Tea gifts for parents: choose their ritual before the set
A practical guide to tea gifts for Mom, Mum, Dad or grandparents: compare single cups, sharing sets and travel tea ware, with a contents and care checklist.

The best starting point is the cup they used this morning. Notice their usual drink, how many people they serve and how much preparation they enjoy. A single useful cup may be a better gift than a large set. Tea ware is only thoughtful when it fits the way they actually make and share tea.
Start with an ordinary cup of tea
Ask whether they use tea bags, loose leaves or a particular brewing method. Then ask whether the pleasure is a quick drink, a careful sequence of infusions or serving other people. These are different buying tasks. Someone who enjoys a familiar mug may not want several small cups to wash. Someone who enjoys gongfu-style brewing may already have strong preferences about shape and handling. Listen before buying a replacement for well-loved equipment.
Choose one cup or a shared pot
An infuser mug can suit a person who likes loose leaves and makes one drink at a time. Check how the filter lifts out, where the wet filter rests and how every part is cleaned. A pot and several cups can suit visits if the size matches how much they serve. The Magpie Teapot & Four-Cup Set is a concrete sharing example in our preview collection. The four cups are a contents fact, not a claim about capacity, grip or pouring performance.
